ABOUT COMPETITION
What Is IECC 2026?
The International Environmental Coding Competition (IECC) is a premier annual programming competition organized by Koding Next, which challenges young programmers to develop interactive games that address real-world environmental and urban challenges.
In 2026, the competition will focus on SDG 11—Sustainable Cities and Communities—one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Participants are invited to imagine, design, and build games that propose creative and meaningful solutions to the challenges facing cities today.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Background of the Competition
In IECC 2026, participants take on the role of Urban Architects who design solutions to urban challenges through programming. The journey begins with basic coding tests, then progresses from the regional to the national and finally to the international levels to build an inclusive and sustainable city of the future.
This competition highlights various challenges facing modern cities, such as basic community needs, environmental safety, access to public services, climate change, and rapid technological advancements.
